The interest for offshore sourcing is growing in The Netherlands and Dutch companies are currently investigating the advantages of international IT-collaboration. Global sourcing offers many advantages, but it is also complicated and must be prepared well.

OffshoreNet is a Dutch website on offshore sourcing. It provides general information to (potential) Dutch users of offshore services, and also to journalists, consultants and students. The website offers, both in the Dutch and English language, access to articles and press releases. In addition, it provides information about offshore service providers (e.g. company details).

The promotion of offshore services

Although a small country, Holland is already one of the largest users of offshore IT-services in Europe. Over the years, hundreds of Dutch companies have offshored, including Philips, Shell, ABN Amro Bank and KLM. The Dutch have been egalitarian in choosing their suppliers: at least 40 nations have conducted software work for Dutch organizations. India is the most important source, and the volume of Indian software exports to Holland is around $900 million in 2008 (this makes Holland the 3rd largest Indian export destination, after UK and Germany).The Dutch market for offshore services will continue to grow, especially among the SME-sector (Smaller and Medium Sized Enterprises).
